Terms and Conditions
1. Introduction
These Terms and Conditions govern enrolment in and access to courses offered by Canine Professional Institute, including all online modules, practical components, placements, resources, and associated materials.
By submitting an application or enrolling in any course, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any rights you may have under Australian Consumer Law.
2. Enrolment and Acceptance
2.1 Submission of an application does not guarantee acceptance into a course.
2.2 Enrolment in any hands on course, including but not limited to the Dog Grooming Course and Dog Daycare Attendant Course, is subject to review and formal written acceptance by Canine Professional Institute.
2.3 A place in a course is only secured once:
a. The Applicant has received written confirmation of acceptance; and
b. The required deposit has been paid in full.
2.4 Canine Professional Institute reserves the right to decline any application at its sole discretion.
3. Course Fees and Payment
3.1 Course fees are as published on the Canine Professional Institute website or as otherwise communicated in writing at the time of application or enrolment.
3.2 Promotional or introductory pricing may apply to specific intakes. Such pricing is valid only for the stated period or intake and cannot be applied retrospectively.
3.3 A non refundable deposit is required to secure a place in any hands on course, including but not limited to the Dog Grooming Course and Dog Daycare Attendant Course.
3.4 Upon payment of the deposit, Students will receive access to the initial modules as specified for that course.
3.5 Full payment of the remaining course balance is required in order to:
a. Access all remaining course modules;
b. Commence any practical training or placement component.
3.6 Practical training or placement will not commence unless:
a. The course has been paid in full; and
b. The required prerequisite modules have been completed to the satisfaction of the Institute.
3.7 For online only courses, including but not limited to First Aid courses and short programs, full payment is required at the time of enrolment. Access will not be granted until payment is received in full.
3.8 Failure to make full payment by the required date may result in suspension of access or forfeiture of the Student’s place in the course.
4. Deposit Policy
4.1 All deposits are strictly non refundable.
4.2 Deposits secure a limited intake position and cover administrative, onboarding, and course preparation costs.
4.3 Deposits are not transferable to another person.
5. Refunds and Deferrals
5.1 Course fees are generally non refundable once paid.
5.2 In exceptional circumstances, including serious illness or unforeseen hardship, Students may apply in writing for a course deferral.
5.3 Approval of a deferral is at the sole discretion of Canine Professional Institute.
5.4 Approved deferrals may be subject to an administrative fee and must be used within 12 months.
5.5 Nothing in these Terms limits rights under Australian Consumer Law.
6. Practical Placement
6.1 Participation in practical training or placement components is subject to:
a. Full payment of course fees
b. Compliance with workplace health and safety policies
c. Professional conduct at all times
6.2 Students acknowledge that working with animals involves inherent risks including scratches, bites, physical strain, and unpredictable behaviour.
6.3 Students participate in practical components at their own risk.
6.4 Canine Professional Institute reserves the right to remove a Student from practical placement if behaviour is deemed unsafe, unprofessional, or inconsistent with industry standards.
6.5 Removal from placement due to misconduct does not entitle the Student to a refund.
7. Code of Conduct
7.1 Students must conduct themselves in a professional, respectful and safe manner at all times.
7.2 This includes but is not limited to:
• Treating trainers, staff, clients, and fellow students with respect
• Following all workplace health and safety procedures
• Handling animals in accordance with training guidelines
• Arriving on time and prepared
• Refraining from bullying, harassment, intimidation or disruptive behaviour
• Refraining from conduct that brings Canine Professional Institute into disrepute, including on social media
7.3 Canine Professional Institute reserves the right to issue warnings, suspend participation, or terminate enrolment where a Student breaches this Code of Conduct.
7.4 Serious misconduct may result in immediate dismissal without refund.
8. Termination of Enrolment
8.1 Canine Professional Institute may terminate a Student’s enrolment immediately if:
• The Student engages in unsafe animal handling
• The Student behaves in a manner that risks the safety of others
• The Student engages in harassment, discrimination, or abusive behaviour
• The Student fails to comply with Institute policies
• The Student engages in academic dishonesty or misuse of course materials
8.2 Termination due to misconduct does not entitle the Student to a refund.
9. Training Services Agreement
9.1 Upon acceptance into a hands on course, Students will be required to sign a separate Training Services Agreement prior to commencement.
9.2 Failure to sign the Training Services Agreement may result in cancellation of enrolment.
9.3 In the event of any inconsistency between these Terms and the Training Services Agreement, the Training Services Agreement will prevail.
10. Online Access and Account Use
10.1 Course access is granted to the enrolled Student only.
10.2 Login credentials must not be shared.
10.3 If account sharing or unauthorised access is detected, access may be suspended or terminated without refund.
10.4 Access to online modules may be time limited as specified at enrolment.
11. Intellectual Property
11.1 All course materials, manuals, videos, assessments, templates, policies, branding, and resources remain the intellectual property of Canine Professional Institute.
11.2 Course materials are provided for personal educational use only.
11.3 Students must not copy, reproduce, distribute, record, upload, share, modify, or resell any course content in whole or in part.
11.4 Breach of this clause may result in immediate termination of access without refund and may result in legal action.
12. Fitness to Participate
12.1 Students confirm they are physically and mentally capable of participating in practical animal handling activities.
12.2 Students are responsible for disclosing any relevant medical conditions that may impact safe participation.
12.3 Canine Professional Institute reserves the right to determine whether a Student is fit to continue practical training if safety concerns arise.
13. Photography and Media
13.1 Photographs or video may be taken during training sessions for promotional or educational purposes.
13.2 By enrolling, Students consent to the use of such material unless written notice is provided prior to commencement.
14. Course Changes
14.1 Canine Professional Institute reserves the right to make reasonable changes to course structure, scheduling, trainers, or content where necessary.
14.2 Such changes will not materially reduce the overall learning outcomes of the course.
15. Limitation of Liability
15.1 To the extent permitted by law, Canine Professional Institute is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from participation in a course.
15.2 Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.
16. Privacy
16.1 Personal information is collected for enrolment, communication, and course administration purposes and is handled in accordance to our Privacy Policy.
16.2 Personal information will be handled in accordance with Australian privacy laws.
17. Minimum Age
Students must be at least 18 years of age at the time of enrolment.
Applicants aged 16 to 17 may be considered at the discretion of Canine Professional Institute, provided that:
a. Written parental or legal guardian consent is obtained prior to enrolment;
b. A parent or legal guardian signs the Training Services Agreement on behalf of the Student;
c. The Student demonstrates sufficient maturity and suitability for participation in a professional animal handling environment;
d. All workplace health and safety requirements are satisfied;
e. Insurance and regulatory requirements permit participation.
Canine Professional Institute reserves the right to decline enrolment of any applicant under 18 years of age.
18. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
